Syakir on December 6th, 2007

Hello again. As promised, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Izel Melissa. You can call me Izel. Most of you must be wondering why my name is so unique. Explaining my name to every person who asks about it can be time consuming but it’s worth it. Izel is a Nahuatl word which means “unique”. Melissa is a Greek word which means “honey bee”. Thus, in a very simple English word, Izel Melissa means “a unique honey bee”. Yes, I am unique, and yes, I do refine and concentrate ‘nectar’ to make ‘honey’. Thee he he. Don’t get me wrong. I am sure most of you out there is curious about my name. Is it really my real name? The answer is YES. Izel Melissa is my real name and the name I was born with! Many people have a difficult time believing it is actually my name and jokingly require proof (I/C please?). Others simply think they heard it wrong, “I’m sorry, what was that?”. And yet others will simply nod and smile but I’m pretty confident that they are just trying to maintain a certain degree of “cool” by not asking me to repeat myself. I love my name. For me, one of the good things about it is that it is memorable. I am Malay and a proud Muslim. Even though my name is half nahuatl and half greek, it does not mean that I am a mixture of both. Let’s just make it this way. Try to set your mind that nahuatl means “bugis” and greek means “minang”. Got it? Okay..okay..enough with the explanations of my name. :)

I was born on the 19th of December and I am 23 years old (3 years younger than syakir) this year. I live in Kelana Jaya but currently staying in Malacca. What the heck am i doing in Malacca? Actually I am a student (final year) at Multimedia University (MMU), Malacca Campus. I am a Diploma (in IT) holder and currently doing my degree in IT majoring in Security Technology. After my graduation (insya-Allah in May 2008), I will become a proud ‘mak guard’ who gripped ‘cota’ in my pits. Pfft!

I am known for my energy and love of sports. I used to play hockey, netball, bowling, and handball during my school time. I am a long-distance (10km) runner and amazingly, I (still) can run 10 rounds of a 400meter running track non-stop in half an hour. Dare to run with me? Anyone? :D Beside sports, I also like fishing but I am not a fishing-freak like syakir. Duh..

I have been so-called reserved by syakir since 9th of November this year. In Malay tradition, we called it “merisik”. I don’t know what they called it in English. Pre-engagement? (Viewers, please correct me if I’m wrong). From that day, I started wearing a gold ring on my left-hand leech or ring or what-ever-you-call finger. The other hand is still waiting for ‘magical’ to happen. We already have the date for it but I think it is too early to tell you. Maybe a week before “the event” me or syakir will announce it here. So L&G, please be patience. ;)

That’s all for now. Adios!
