syafri,
try plugin your streamyx modem directly to your laptop and open a command prompt.
start -> run -> cmd (enter)
then type:
ipconfig
you will get a list of IPs assign to your laptop. find the gateway IP under “Local Area Network”. then copy the IP address and paste into your browser, http://192.168.1.1/. and proceed with the configuration above.
if you didn’t get the IP from the modem, try to set your IP on your laptop manually.
start -> control panel -> network connections -> local area network
cheers!

Hi;
As for your info, i am self-installer streamyx combo applicant, i had already activated my account via call to TM customer service, but still now i can’t install my streamyx. In my modem ( Riger, DB 102 ), the PC & LINK bulb light is stable but the DATA bulb is no light. So, can you tell me what the problem and teach me some methods to solve.
Thank You.

Hi Ng,
If you do exactly what is stated in my post, you’ll get the DATA light blinking.
If you don’t want to make the modem as a router, then just connect directly to your computer and dial from your computer. Just create a new DSL connection in Windows.
Cheers.

hello fiz,
1. to change IP address of the modem, you can do so by changing the LAN IP address.
2. not sure if this modem can block websites. even if it could, i don’t recommend to do so because the hardware of this modem don’t have the processing power to handle such request. it will make your life miserable later. the IP filter can be use to block IPs, not URLs.

LINK Blinking have to possibility.
1. DSLAM problem. Contact TM.
2. Modem chip problem. Can’t establish the DSLAM link. Test using a different modem first. If can dial, change your modem to a new one.

if the link is stable, press once reset button on the modem. the default setting should be as ‘bridge’. then go to your wireless device and make sure its dialing from the wireless device. get a wireless router with WAN port.
1. modem (bridge mode)
2. connect the modem to the wireless WAN port
3. go to the wireless setup page and put in your DSL user and password
4. fly

hello lim,
no problem at all
most recommended settings would be done while all the cables are connected (phone line to the modem, the network cable to the wireless router, and make sure using the network cable to a computer while you set the wireless).
usually the blinking is caused by the TM side (port fault or suspended account). if you think its because your modem, just press the reset button and everything would back to factory settings (bridge mode).
hope this helps

just follow the instruction as stated in my posting, then just boot up your ubuntu like normal. it will get an automatic IP from the modem’s DHCP server.

Help please…
I have Riger db102 ADSL Modem + Planet WRT-416 Wireless Router. I want to set my modem in Bridge mode and dial using PPPoE from my Wireless Router.
I try to test the modem in bridge mode (I reset the modem) with Windows XP PPPoE built-in dialer and I cant connect to internet. Same result with the wireless router PPPoE dialer. Login to the Configuration GUI shows that its connected but there is no WAN IP Address (0.0.0.0.)
Connecting to internet using modem in PPPoE mode is fine but I want to use the wireless connectivity, donno how to configure them together.

Hi Dan,
1st, correct your wiring between the modem and the wifi router. the wifi router should be plug in into the WAN port to the modem.
then within the modem, set it to Bridge mode with the correct VCI settings.
last, configure your wifi router using PPPoE.
make sure both modem (bridge mode) and wifi is DHCPd enabled.

Hey, I just got my riger modem adapter replaced.
Could you please show the steps on how to set it to bridge modem and the correct VCI settings?
What is the VCI settings?
October 29th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
If your modem is from TM, just press the reset button behind the modem and it will reset everything and ready to use.
Anyway, requested VPI/VCI settings is stated in the posting and as follow
# VPI = 0
# VCI = 35
